This month NXG Thrive was honoured to have collaborated with Sunita Patel, an inspirational student athlete bringing insight and guidance towards the power of consistency in sport and in life in order to achieve success. Lets learn more about Sunita’s journey.
“My name is Sunita Patel, and I am an Indian squash-athlete currently pursuing an MSc in Sport Management at Loughborough University.
I am completing my master’s degree through an education loan alongside a squash sports-scholarship from the university, while continuing to compete in BUCS and university league tournaments.Alongside my studies and training, I also try to stay connected with sport through volunteering, media and content opportunities.
Currently, I am involved as part of the MMC (Marketing, Media and Communication) team for the Loughborough squash programme.
Before moving to the UK, I competed professionally on the PSA Tour and represented India nationally. I completed my undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Management Studies with a Design Minor from Shiv Nadar University, India, on a fully-funded sports scholarship”.
Achievements include during 4-year:
- Highest India Ranking in Women’s: 3
- Highest PSA World Ranking: 182
- Represented India at the Asian Team Championships 2024 in Dalian, China
During this academic year at Loughborough Uni:
- Selected as the 2nd ranked player for the Women’s 1st Team
- Finished 7th at the BUCS Individual Championships 2025
- Loughborough Women’s 1st Team finished in the Top 8 of the National Premier
- Won the Loughborough Students National Club Championship 2026
- Runner-up at the National Clubs Mixed Championship
“At the moment, I am trying to become more involved within the sport beyond competing, especially through media, communications and coaching. I am also looking to begin my journey into squash coaching so I can pass on my experiences and learning’s to younger players and others entering the sport “.
